It has become so common among people of every age and gender that it is normally experienced by almost every second person at some point in his/her life. Bringing required changes in the diet and lifestyle actually helps in preventing and curing the constipation and bringing the life back to normal. A very simple and balanced diet is most crucial in curing constipation. Inclusion of unrefined foods in the diet, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, wholegrain cereals, lentils have beneficial results in preventing constipation.
Low fiber diet, fatty foods, red meats, cheese, processed and refined foods, artificial drinks, alcoholic and caffeinated beverages should be strictly avoided. Sugary foods such as cakes, pastries, biscuits and food products made of white flour, fleshy foods should also be avoided as much as possible.

Pears and guava are another effective fruits in the treatment of constipation. Taken during the breakfast can produce the most desired result. Banana and jackfruit should be strictly avoided.
Starting the day with drinking water kept in a copper vessel overnight can also have good results. Lime mixed in hot water with a pinch of salt is another effective remedy for constipation. A glass of hot water alone has also seen to have good results on patients who have not severe constipation.
Intake of one tablespoon of raw honey twice a day may also help in preventing constipation.
