Migraine Pain Home Remedies

 

Migraine is a chronic disorder characterized by severe headache and nausea. It is neurovascular disorder and most commonly found in women than in men. It mainly starts with one side and spreads then. The main causes of migraine are excess intake of caffeine, some smell, changes in season, hormonal changes, excess intake of contraceptive pills, emotional bursts, skipping a meal and such others.

Home remedies provide great relief to migraine with no ill-effects. Try these following home remedies:–

Dehydration can be one of the biggest problems. Hydrate your body. Keep drinking water and other fluids.

Rub peppermint oil the part of the head where migraine hurts. It really works.

Fish oil reduces the inflammation by restricting the blood vessel.

Eat the pieces of ginger directly or mix it in tea.

Dip the flowers of henna in vinegar and rub it on the side of head where pain occurs. This will bring immediate relief to the pain.

Chamomile tea is a wonderful medicine. Prepare tea and take a sip when start noticing the signs of headache.

Lack of magnesium causes headache. Fruits, nuts, dark green leafy vegetables are rich in magnesium. Include it in diet. Cocktail of magnesium rich fruits and vegetables are also beneficial.

Mix carrot juice with spinach, beet and cucumber. It is a great migraine pain reliever.

Fresh juice of grapes is another very effective measure for migraine. Avoid adding water in it for better results.

Wet the towel and squeeze out some water. Fold the towel and put it into freezer for some time. Take out and bring the section of towel which is exposed to cold in the middle and place it on the side of the head where migraine occurs.

Get enough sleep but do not oversleep.

Tie headband.

Prevention is better than cure. Try to avoid things which cause irritation and results into migraine. It could be bright or flashing light, loud noise, allergy etc.

Eat 10-12 almonds as the vitamin niacin helps in relieving from the pain. Yeast, whole wheat, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, liver and fish can also be taken.

Crush few leaves of cabbage. Put it in some cloth and tie it. Place it on the forehead and get relief.

Crush the skin of lemon and rub it on forehead. It will also help in treating migraine.

Take steam. Add few drops of rosemary oil to hot water. Cover your head and inhale it. This is one of the most effective methods in treating migraine.
