Anulom Vilom Pranayam
Pranayama is an old form of practice associated with the art of controlled breathing. Many believe that the practice of Pranayama helps cure asthma. You should be seated in a meditative position Sukhasana or Vajrasana or those who have trouble sitting down may also sit on a chair though the former is the most advisable. Place your left hand atop your left knee and the right hand on the bridge of your nose and the fourth and the middle fingers in the left side of the nose. Then fold your left index and middle finger and with your right hand press the bony region on your nose to control breathing. Begin by first exhaling through the left nostril and then inhaling through the same by closing the right nostril. Then do the same with your right nostril and then the left again. Continue the process again and again and do it for 10 – 15 minutes.

One must do it slowly and gradually. The most important thing to be kept in mind is that you should be in a calm and relaxed state of mind while performing this yoga.
